In 1967, Lawn Doctor was born in a hardware store on Main St. in Matawan, NJ as many customers and first time homeowners needed lawn products and helpful advice on how to use them to get the results they wanted.

Store owner, Tony Giordano, saw an opportunity to conduct seminars to deliver more value and build customer loyalty. As word spread, Tony was dubbed “the Lawn Doctor” and the seed for what would eventually become the largest franchise company in the lawn care category was planted.
Tony soon had the revelation to take product sales and education further by providing lawn service to homeowners using methods that would exceed their expectations. His next move was to partner with friend and talented engineer, Bob Magda, to develop a piece of lawn application equipment that would create an industry and provide a business opportunity for hundreds of entrepreneurs that shared their passion.
The innovation that started with the very formation of the company and development of the first piece of equipment is central to our culture. Today, our franchisees work directly with our executive team to infuse innovative solutions into our organization in a way that is practical to implement at a franchise level and adds value to the customer relationship.
